a database of viral genomes and genes. viruSITE comprises all genomes from viruses, viroids and satellites published in NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). The data are computationally extracted from numerous resources (NCBI RefSeq, UniProtKB, GO, ViralZone, PubMed) and integrated under human supervision. As a result, viruSITE is a comprehensive information resource in the field of viral genomics.
You can either search the database using specific keywords(s) or use sequence search or browse the database for virus species or higher taxonomic groups. Subsequently it is possible to retrieve data from selected entries and analyse them with various tools. Genomes of viruses may be dynamically and interactively displayed using visualization utility in the Genome browser section. Moreover you can explore statistical summary of viruSITE and download the database content. For more instructions see Help.
New releases of this database are permanently published. Current release (2024.1) contains 14530 records for viruses and 689909 records for genes.
Current release contains also records for SARS-CoV-2.
